Project 1 · La Boussole

Context

When? Where? Who? Why? Explain the specific context of your project.

For legal migration, an application that allows newcomers or those about to migrate to have information on all administrative procedures, installation, finances, legislation, assistance etc. So that he can better prepare for the migration or better settle down. Using an API to automatically generate all the information about a specific country. The API will get the information from the official website and display the relevant info in a user-friendly way.

People wishing to migrate to a country where they do not know anyone or a few people are sometimes faced with a lack of information or with several pieces of information scattered over several websites or platforms. All or part of this information that could enable them to make the choice to migrate, to prepare for the migration or to settle down escapes them. This can lead to poor immigration choices, unforeseen arrival situations, poor integration in the host country or unsecure situations for the migrant. (thief, trafficking, etc.). That’s why we decided to create la Boussole. For legal migration, an application such as a city guide that allows newcomers or those about to migrate in a country to have information on all administrative procedures, installation, finances, legislation, assistance, community, languages center, places of prayer etc. for this specific country. So that they can make good choices for migration, they can better prepare for the migration and/or better settle down.

Target + persona

For whom? Describe the users and beneficiaries of your project, and then suggest a quick persona (refer to Part 2 of the course for methodology tips).

People wishing to migrate to a country and looking for reliable information, an approach to follow, guidance. These people must be literate or have a literate audience. Focus on the people who have the means to get access to the app: migrants with the necessary technological capabilities such as a smartphone or internet plan. These people must be of legal majority, i.e. 21 years old.

Persona

Service offered

What? How? Explain how your solution works, what it enables the user to do, and how is solves the initial issue.

La Boussole comes in the form of an application or website that provides key information first in the choice of destination, a comparison of certain indicators on several destinations and the immigration process to be followed before and upon arrival. The user is anonymous on the application. He can enter his personal information without his identity. He can enter the countries he wants and select why he wants to go in these countries. The application will set up a profile like : workers, students, retired, children, etc. After that he can choose on a list of information all the information he wants. The application, thanks to APIs, takes information from other official sites (governments, NGOs, embassies, companies website, etc.) and makes a synthesis which is presented to the user. In the synthesis we have selected all the information for all the countries, a benchmark between some indicators and all the process with references and links to some organism like embassies, consular services, insurance, airports, NGOs, communities, etc. Anonymously, the person wishing to migrate will have all the information necessary for his decision-making by comparing the opportunities, to prepare for the trip, to settle and to integrate in his host country. The app will collect comments from the person after use of the app to have more practical information to help others. La Boussole will be a free app available on all systems.

Features + user flow

Explain what features your project involves and hierarchize them from the most important one to the least. Remember: a feature is a verb + a noun, it describes an action that the user can do.

Then, for your first and most important feature (the key feature), write down and draw the user flow: what steps will the user have to go through, from the initial situation to the final situation? Again, refer to Part 2 of the course for methodological tips.
